About The I2H2

A Veteran-owned, physician-led organization dedicated to advancing health through interdisciplinary education, clinical knowledge, research, and collaboration.

Our Story

The Institute for Integrative Health and Healing (The I2H2) was established in 2019 with a commitment to advancing health and healing through education, clinical practice, and research.

Founded by physician and U.S. Army Veteran Richard P. Petri, Jr., MD, The I2H2 reflects a career shaped by interdisciplinary healthcare, chronic pain management, rehabilitation, integrative health and healing, healthcare education, and research. Experience across military, federal, academic, and community settings has reinforced the importance of bringing different perspectives together to address complex healthcare challenges.

As The I2H2 continues to develop, its work is expanding through research, education, collaborative initiatives, and partnerships with patients, Veterans, clinicians, researchers, academic institutions, and community organizations. Central to this work is the belief that meaningful advances in healthcare occur when scientific evidence and clinical expertise are informed by the experiences, priorities, and voices of the people healthcare is intended to serve.
